Preview of vacation destinations offered through Columbia College

 

                 Vacation getaways to tropical Costa Rica, the Colorado Rockies, Eastern Canada, America’s Music Cities, the French Riviera and a Cajun Holiday Celebration will be offered through the Columbia College Community Education Department.

            Previews of these trips, which are scheduled through 2009, will be presented by a representative of Collette Vacations. The first will be at the Columbia College Calaveras Center, 2892 Highway 49, Suite 4 in Angels Camp on Thursday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m.  A second preview is scheduled on the college campus in Sonora on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Education room of the Manzanita Building. Any interested members of the community are invited to attend.

            Planned dates for the trips are:

            Dec. 1-5 -- Cajun Holiday Celebration in New Orleans includes a visit to the French Quarter, holiday displays in the historic house and gardens of Bellingrath Gardens and a holiday concert at St. Louis Cathedral.

            Feb. 25-Mar. 4, 2009 -- Discover the French Riviera includes Nice, Flower Market, Chjagall Museum, Grasse Perfumerie, St. Tropez, Cannes, Rothschild Villa and Gardens, Monaco and San Remo in Italy.

            April 26-May 3, 2009 -- Tour The Music Cities: Branson, Memphis & Nashville and dine on world-famous Beale Street in Memphis where so much of the Blues came to life, explore the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and visit the Grand Ole Opry and Graceland.,  

            July 2009 -- Trains of the Colorado Rockies is a journey on the world’s highest cog railroad to Pike’s Peak and two nights in Durango, a fun-filled cowboy town where you can relive the excitement of the Old West.

            August 2009 -- Best of Eastern Canada includes Niagara Falls, a cruise of the spectacular 1,000 islands region of picturesque Lake Ontario and stops in Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto.

            November 2009 -- Tropical Costa Rica includes a guided nature walk through the cloud forest, tour of a local oxcart factory in the charming town of Sarchi, visit to a local coffee production facility and enjoying beautiful tropical landscapes.
